International Festival Sponsors

More information for Sponsors

The Winnebago Historical Society was formed in 1977. Heritage Park of North Iowa began in 1999 as a WHS project to preserve America’s rural heritage. Heritage Park has more than 40 buildings – museums, an 1890 church, a granary, farmhouse, log houses, a blacksmith shop, a sawmill, schoolhouses and more – and houses more than 140,000 square feet of artifacts. During the summer, the 91-acre open-air museum holds many events: Kite Day and Steam School in May, International Festival in June, Heritage Festival in July, Tractor Ride in August and the Steam Threshing Festival in September. Heritage Park is open weekends for tours, and it gave tours to 750 schoolchildren last year.

Mission: Our mission is to educate, entertain and reintroduce families to their heritage by recreating the lives and livelihoods of our ancestors, to preserve our history and to help our region’s economy through tourism.

Geographic community served: Heritage Park draws a large portion of visitors from a 90-mile radius. Our major events attract guests from across the country. Our events vary from less than 100 guests to 3,000-3,500 guests.

Purpose of sponsorship requests: To keep this a FREE ADMISSION festival, we request sponsorships for ethnic dance and vocal entertainment, educational demonstrations and presentations and advertising and publicity costs.

Project summary: The International Festival at Heritage Park celebrates the rich history of the area while offering contemporary events and activities for today’s families to create lasting memories. The festival connects people through what we all share – food, music, dance, art, games. Our $17,300 budget will include a parade, food vendors, educational demonstrations, ethnic entertainment, animals, a petting zoo, and arts and crafts booths.

How does this project enhance quality of life / economic growth in this area? The festival’s goal is to celebrate our American heritage and the many heritages of our country. The International Festival will be a community-building event that draws area families, volunteers, organizations and people of various ethnic backgrounds to demonstrate their food, dance and crafts.
