36th Steam Threshing Festival

From Friday through Sunday  Heritage Park of North Iowa will be hosting Sheppard Diesels Annual Event as well as classic cars which will held in conjunction with its  Annual Steam Threshing Festival. This three day event is full of actives for the whole family. Admission is $10 for all three days.  See the Show Guide below for complete details and interesting articles.

A new book on the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company's direct flue steam traction engines will be first and exclusively available through Heritage Park of North Iowa beginning at this year's show. Things to See and Do

Heritage Park of North Iowa is home to a very impressive collections of steam traction engines, prairie tractors, threshing machines, crawlers, flywheel engines, row crop tractors and much more. Come and see what all we have. The rotating images above show a small sampling of some sights from previous events, you may click on any image to view a larger image.

Kids activities on Sunday from 11:00 - 3:00 will include assisted horseback rides, kids fun old-fashioned-outdoor games, trolley rides, face painting, find coins in a haystack, make butter, wash clothes on a washboard, beat rugs, and visit the museums in the Pioneer Village.


Golf Carts & UTVs

Golf carts are available for rent. Rental fee is $60 per day. Insurance is included with the rental fee.

If you bring your own golf cart or UTV there is no registration fee, but you must follow these rules:

  • All motorized vehicles must be registered and you must show proof of insurance
  • You must be at least 16 years old to operate the vehicle

 

Antique Tractor Pull

Our antique tractor pull will be Saturday 11:00 AM hook fees apply. We are pleased to be working with Blue Ox Sled Company to provide these events.  We will have a fun pull on Saturday evening after the antique an antique tractor pull. All are welcome to participate in this event. Follow this link for the rules for the tractor pull.

Entertainment

Carver Creek BluegrassThere will be multiple forms of entertainment available at the Steam Threshing Festival. Be sure check out the Schedule of Events for a full listing of entertainment options. One of these entertainers will be Carver Creek Bluegrass a band of five siblings ranging in age from six to twenty-one from Carver, MN. Carver Creek sings bluegrass, folk, country and old-time music. Instrumentally they use the banjo, guitar, fiddle, penny whistle, ripsaw and cow fiddle. Visit their website for more information on the band.

Another entertainer on hand for the event is Gary Froiland. Gary is a solo musician that combines the 5 string banjo, guitar, bass, harmonica, dobro and fiddle into his programs. You can see an example of Gary's talent with this video.

Barn Dance

There will be a old fashion barn dance on Saturday night starting at 7:00 PM.

Camping & Hotel Information

Heritage park has camping available for attendees at the Steam Threshing Festival, there are also various area hotels available. The above link has all of the information. A block of rooms have been reserved until May 10th at the Super 8 in Forest City (641-585-1300) and the Best Western in Clear Lake (641-357-5253) for the show. Just mention Heritage Park's Steam Threshing Festival when calling for a room. You must call to reserve one of the block of rooms. You cannot get one of the reserved block of rooms online.
